About Shirin Neshat
Shirin Neshat was born in 1957 in Qazvin, Iran. As a young woman she studied in the United States, studying art at the University of California at Berkeley at the time of the Iranian Revolution. She has since relocated to New York, where she works and lives. Her work has been extensively exhibited internationally, and has been featured in the Whitney Biennial 2000, and she has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum, the Tate Gallery, London, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
